If you are working in recruitment then there are probably two things that most commonly cause “Sunday night dread”.  It’s usually that you are working in an agency, love the candidate & attraction side of recruitment but hate the sales element, or you are working in-house but having to work to policies / process / a boss that you just know could be better but never get the chance to implement your ideas.

So how about this for a proposition.  No sales, you run the show, and to top it all off get to work for a great boss and business.  Sounds too good to be true right?  Well slap me in a bun and call me a hot-dog, look at what we have below….

This particular organisation needs someone that genuinely loves recruitment.  Someone that has the experience, ideas, drive and character to be the go-to person for recruitment within a multi-million pound business with sites, and vacancies, right across EMEA.  At present, recruitment has always been pretty de-centralised in this business, with hiring managers often doing their own thing, resulting in high spending on agency fees and an in-consistent process, and subsequent candidate & hiring manager experience.  As part of the HR team, reporting to the HR Director, it will be your job to turn recruitment into an efficient, cost effective process that delivers a great candidate & hiring manager experience.  You will take the lead on all hires within the business, partnering hiring managers at all levels, up to and including Director / Exec.  External supplier relationship?  Yep, they are yours as well.  Recruitment Marketing, Social Media and Employer Brand development?  Yours too.  Creation and analysis of recruitment reports and KPI’s?   You guessed it…you.  This really is one of those rare opportunities to come into a business where recruitment has never had a dedicated specialist, and put your stamp on it, making it your own.

The business in question is a highly successful, established global market leader, still privately owned and working in a sector that is effectively recession (and more importantly Brexit!) proof.  Their products will simply always be needed.  They work out of sleek, modern offices and have a really welcoming, friendly culture, which is evidenced by the number of long serving (10 year +) employees they have.  They undertake a lot of CSR work, running regular charity events and food bank boxes.  They are also a sociable bunch, with on-site Yoga classes, running clubs and a whole host of other great things to emphasise the family feel.

What do we think you will need to be successful in this role?  It’s likely you will be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Proven experience managing recruitment processes / operations, either agency or in-house (both would be great but not essential)
  • Clear understanding of full life-cycle recruitment
  • Experienced using ATS / CRM systems – if this happens to include configuration then it would be an added bonus
  • Previous experience of developing / enhancing / promoting employer brand and EVP will be a big plus but isn’t essential (however a basic level of understanding is)
  • A good level of commercial awareness and an understanding of cost vs value
  • Confident leading screening / interview processes for varying levels of seniority
  • Previous experience recruiting in the manufacturing / engineer space would be a distinct advantage (don’t think you can’t apply without it though!)
  • A good level of understanding of employment law would be highly advantageous
  • An approachable, credible, engaging personality and the confidence to work closely with, and challenge where needed, senior people within the business
  • High degree of tenacity and a real desire to make a positive difference when it comes to recruitment

Your reward for taking on this role?  Well apart from the huge amount of satisfaction you will get from transforming recruitment, you will also receive:

  • Base salary of circa £30,000 to £35,000
  • Pension (5% matched with company contribution rising by 1% each year up to a maximum of 10%, or 3% employee / 5% employer)
  • 25 days holiday + statutory
