Lychnobite – (noun) – someone who works at night and sleeps during the day. In nearly 14 years of recruiting into the Logistics sector I never knew there was a specific word to describe those who work perm nights, but there it is right there, a Lychnobite! If you happen to be a Lychnobite, and have a background in leading fast-moving, predominantly palletised, distribution operations and would like to join a true market leader then read on as this should be right up your street!
The newly created role of Night Manager reports directly to the Head of Operations and takes full responsibility for 150 staff and all aspects of the night operation. You’ll be expected to work under your own initiative and take the lead on all aspects of operational improvement, including the development of your direct reports and wider team from a capability perspective, being pro-active in identifying and implementing operational and strategic improvements including planning, working closely with the wider business (including IT) to improve the accuracy of KPI data and ultimately ensuring a best in class operation to enable this business to continue to operate as the market leader.
Why this role then, what’s in it for you? Well for a start you will be joining a recognised market leader, one who are prepared to invest in the development of their people and offer genuine career progression and development. Long term progression route for this role would logically be into the Head of Operations role, however the role will develop further before that as the business is continuing to grow at a very healthy rate. In terms of culture, they pride themselves on being a business that embraces diversity and enforces the mantra of respect to all. There are countless examples of people who have spent long periods of their career with this organisation, developing and progressing along the way and there is a real friendly feel about the whole business, from the MD right the way through the senior management team and to the guys and girls in the operation itself.
