What’s on offer?

  • Base salary of up to £55,000

What will you be doing?

This role will be a challenge – it will involve project-based work and lots of stakeholder engagement as you define and implement supply chain systems and processes like inventory management, demand & capacity planning, bill of materials, kan bans etc.  You will be working alongside the Managing Director, who is from an automotive background and fully behind the creation and implementation of continuous improvement, lean and modern supply chain best practise, and a junior buyer.  As an SME, this company has been reactive in its approach so a strategic mindset will also go a long way to making a success in this role., however you’ll need to not only be comfortable defining the policies and processes but also going out and implementing them, driving their adoption on the shopfloor and getting your hands dirty, literally in some cases! 

The best practice applied within this SME may also be rolled out into the wider parent group so this is a real chance to become a high profile member of the organisation.

Who will you be doing it for?

You’ll be joining a well-established SME business that is part of a larger group and maturing as they continue their growth. They have an established workforce and are now moving from a culture of ‘we have always done it this way’ to one that embraces new ideas, new processes, in order to optimise and grow.  They have a new MD who is driving modernisation and will be fully supportive of you in making changes/improvements as they know that there are lots of opportunities to make a strong and immediate impact in this role.

The business require this role to be based on site 5 days a week with an early (1pm) finish on a Friday – they are big believers in work/life balance so actively encourage you to be out of the door on time!

What do you need to bring to the party?

To be successful in this role it is expected that you’ll be able to demonstrate the majority (after all no-one’s perfect!) of the following skills and experience:

  • Previous experience of working as a Supply Chain Manager or a Supply Chain Analyst ready for that next step, from any sector. Manufacturing would obviously be advantageous, high volume would be perfect!
  • A good understanding of, and evidence of implementing, modern manufacturing supply chain processes/policies.
  • Excellent Excel Skills and the ability to analyse and interpret large data sets.
  • An attitude that doesn’t settle for the status quo and is prepared to challenge and question and bring new ideas to the table.
  • Demonstrate examples of where you have ‘rolled your sleeves up’ to fix things, you’ll be a doer as well as a strategist.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, fluency in English, written and spoken.
  • Experience of Sage would be an advantage
