Senior Operations Manager

In this role you will take full responsibility for 10-15 direct reports and around 300 staff covering the goods-in, put-away, pick, pack, dispatch and returns processes within the organisation’s National Distribution Centre.  This is a semi-automated facility incorporating voice pick, conveyors and automated packaging technology, housing a significant SKU mix and fulfilling thousands of orders each and every day to both businesses and consumers, and it will be your job to ensure it all runs smoothly, delivering on all KPIs/SLAs.  As always, you will be expected to maintain the health & safety of your staff at all times, as well as working with the wider leadership team to develop employee capability and site efficiency.  The role is going to be on a weekly rotating shift basis, 6-2, 2-10 so you need to be willing and able to commit to this shift pattern. 

To be successful in this role it’s expected that you will be able to demonstrate the majority of the following skills and experience:

  • Previous experience of holding full responsibility for both in-bound and out-bound operations within a fast-moving, high SKU mix distribution centre, preferably working with FMCG products and 3rd party carriers
  • Ideally, you will have worked in a semi-automated/automated environment and understand how mechanisation is incorporated into fulfilment activity
  • Previous experience of leading and developing, through first and second-line reporting managers, a significant sized team
  • Experience of both B2B and B2C fulfilment operations
  • NEBOSH or similar Health & Safety qualification or willingness to train if not formally qualified
  • Excellent leadership, communication and motivational skills, with the drive and energy to make things happen
  • Previous project and change management experience highly desirable
