Senior Buyer – Electrical

What will you be doing?

You’ll be taking the lead on defining the strategy for all Electrical components in an ambitious automotive NPI programme – this is essentially defining a brand new supply chain and will include rationalising your supplier base, ensuring the required quality standards are met, everything arrives at the right place at the right time in the right quantities and everything is done within budget.  You’ll need to work cross-functionally to ensure this is delivered, working especially close with engineering on technically challenging projects.  In many cases it will be down to you to define the procurement process in a very agile/fluid environment, you’ll need to be comfortable adapting/amending your approach at short notice at times!  To begin with this will be a stand alone role, however in a relatively short space of time you’ll be recruiting buyers into your team to allow you to develop your people management experience.

What do you need to bring to the party?

To be successful in this role it’s expected that you’ll be able to bring the majority of the following skills and experience:

  • Proven experience of managing procurement of production components in a manufacturing environment, ideally automotive but happy to consider all manufacturing backgrounds – if you happen to have procured electrical/electronic components this would be a huge advantage!
  • Ideally CIPS qualified or equivalent or working towards
  • Previous experience of owning category strategy formulation and execution
  • Prior people/team management responsibility is advantageous but not essential
  • Outstanding communicator and influencer, able to engage at all levels of a business both internally and externally
  • Comfortable working in a project team from inception to delivery, including early supplier engagement
  • Any previous experience of implementing new procurement processes and systems would be a big bonus
