Procurement Manager

What’s on offer?

  • Base salary of circa £55-60k

  • Blended working – 2 days at home 3 in the office one week then 3 at home 2 in the office the following week
  • Pension (5% matched with company contribution rising by 1% each year up to a maximum of 10%, or 3% employee / 5% employer)

What will you be doing?

Leading group procurement, via a team of 13, strategically & operationally managing a spend of circa £30-40m across both standard and unique components from a supplier base spanning the UK, Europe, India and the Far East.  They currently work with circa 700 suppliers and there will be significant opportunity for you to rationalise this and drive significant commercial and operational improvements.  You’ll lead the improvement in ERP data accuracy and utilisation, improve the relationships between procurement and the key business stakeholders through the establishment of robust, reliable and cost-effective supply chains and supplier agreements and deliver the business KPI’s and cost down targets.  You’ll also need to build excellent relationships with the 3rd party manufacturers as most of this organisation’s manufacturing is sub-contracted out.

Their products will simply always be needed. They work out of sleek, modern offices and have a really welcoming, friendly culture, which is evidenced by the number of long serving (10 year +) employees they have. They undertake a lot of CSR work, running regular charity events and food bank boxes. They are also a sociable bunch, with on-site Yoga classes, running clubs and a whole host of other great things to emphasise the family feel.

What will you need to bring to the party?

What do we think you will need to be successful in this role? It’s likely you will be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Proven experience leading a procurement function and team from both a strategic and operational perspective, ideally within a manufacturing/engineering environment
  • Previous experience of working in a NPI procurement capacity would be advantageous but isn’t essential
  • Strong understanding of, and experience working with, ERP/MRP systems
  • CIPS level 4 or above would be a distinct advantage but isn’t essential if you can clearly demonstrate having worked at a strategic level
  • A natural leader and motivator
  • Ability to build excellent working relationships both internally and externally, a natural rapport builder and influencer
  • Natural problem solver
