IT Applications Support Analyst

Do you have a genuine interest in IT?  Would you say you were relatively tech savvy?  Fancy a new role where full training will be given?  Read on friend!

So who are your prospective new employer?  Firstly, they are a bona fide market leader, the best of the best at what they do. They also benefit from a really sound financial footing and are continuing to see impressive year on year growth despite all the challenges that the world has experienced over the last 12 months. This is a business that believes in helping their employees to become the best they can be, and they are prepared to back this up by offering ongoing training and development courses (proper, recognised courses!!). They are a diverse business with a genuinely friendly culture and a positive working atmosphere, and having the benefit of having filled numerous roles for them over the years I can honestly say they are great to work with. Their offices are nice too, modern and with loads of free on-site parking (better if you can drive in truth as the public transport links aren’t great, especially for a role with a rotating shift pattern like this one).

This role is a key hire in what is a relatively small in-house IT team. There are long term career development and progression opportunities as the business continues to grow, however, to begin with you will be happy taking on the role of Applications Support Analyst. This business has developed its own, bespoke in-house system that is used across multiple sites, both internally and by their customers, and the vast majority (90%+) of the queries that come in relate to this system and the associated hardware (things like printers, label printers, hand-held scanners), so you need to be the kind of person who enjoys learning the ins and outs of a system and becoming a true expert in it. There will be other 1st and 2nd line support activities from time to time, all of which you will be trained on.

You’ll need to be happy and able to work an 8 hour weekly rotating shift pattern of 06:00-14:00 and 13:00-21:00 (just think of the lie-ins you’ll get on the late shift and how quiet the traffic will be on both shifts!) and happy to carry the out of hours phone at times (it rang about twice in the last year apparently so no biggie!). You’ll also need to be ultra-positive, an awesome communicator, and able to build great relationships with both on-site and remote customers, helping them to quickly and efficiently solve their application issues.

So let’s talk about the numbers bit! You’ll be given a package that includes:

  • Salary of circa £24,000 to £26,000
  • Contributory Pension
  • 20 days holiday + statutory
  • Annual pay increase

So if you fancy learning more about this role, why not send us a copy of your CV, or drop us a line to discuss it further, we’d love to hear from you!

Simon worked for me on recruiting for a Site Manager at one of our new operations. He spent time to understand the culture of our company and the type of person we were looking for. Ahead of the interviews we spoke about each of the candidates, and his knowledge of them showed that he had taken time to understand them, and their fit with us. Almost every candidate we saw would have been a good fit for the role, and even creating a shortlist of three, resulted in some really tough decisions, due to the calibre of all candidates. I am really pleased with our new Site Manager, and was also extremely happy with the recruitment process, and the service provided by Simon. I can provide no higher compliment than to say, I would be happy for him to be helping me in my search for a new challenge.

Simon assisted me finding my current role. From the onset Simon took his time to get to know me as a candidate, through telephone conversations and meeting me in person. He provided me with a breadth of information about the role and organisation to help me decide if this role was the right move for me. My opinions and requirements as the candidate were just as important to him as the role and company he was representing. He maintained constant contact with me throughout the selection process, which took several months and has continued that contact months into the role. Simon has always had the time to take my calls, offer advice and guidance, all of which have helped me through this new role transition.
