What will you be doing?

You’ll be taking the reigns for defining, and implementing, the strategic development of the procurement operation for this manufacturing organisation.  This will be split across two distinct programmes, one of which is an established BAU and the other a business critical start-up which still has some way to go from a procurement perspective before being ready to go into full production later this year.  You’ll have two direct reports (a Procurement Manager for each Programme) and circa 20 additional indirect reports.  You’ll be responsible for driving procurement best practice across the two programmes, identifying synergies, coaching, mentoring, developing and galvanising the team to ensure first class results are achieved.  Both programmes are complex assembly operations, with BOM’s in the thousands, UK & EU supply chains

What do you need to bring to the table?

To be successful in this role it’s expected that you’ll be able to demonstrate the majority (after all no one’s perfect!) of the following skills and experience:

  • Proven senior level procurement leadership experience in a manufacturing/production environment, ideally automotive, aerospace, rail, defense or any other high value/low volume business
  • Experience of working with heavy fabricated products would be a distinct advantage as this is a considerable chunk of the current spend
  • MCIPS would be viewed favourably but isn’t essential
  • Proven motivator, coach, mentor with the ability to bring a team together and instil genuine pride and passion
  • Demonstrable experience of setting the strategic direction of procurement and overseeing it’s implementation
  • Experience of SAP would be highly beneficial
