Commercial Manager

What’s on offer?

  • Basic salary of circa £38,000 to £43,000
  • Bonus

  • Hybrid working (3-4 days a week at home, the others on-site in Northampton or out with suppliers, customers etc)

What will you be doing?

In a nutshell you’ll be optimising the profitability of the products this business sells.  You’ll be taking the lead for the commercial activity relating to the entire product offering, including analysing pricing to ensure profitability is maximised without compromising market positioning, defining discount and promotional strategies, supporting/leading on large tenders, working closely with the retail network to manage all pricing amendments, building a cost to serve model and anything else that helps to position the business correctly from a commercial perspective.  Although this is a home based role, you’ll need to get out to see your key colleagues in various departments, as well as your suppliers and customers so you’ll be expected to travel at least once a week for in person meetings.

What do you need to bring to the table?

To be successful in this role it’s expected that you’ll be able to demonstrate the majority (no one ever ticks every box do they!) of the following skills and experience:

  • Previous experience within a commercial role that includes pricing and business analytics
  • A highly analytical mindset
  • Excellent data collection, analysis and manipulation skills.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and the ability to present data/information visually
  • Experience in conducting market research, including competitor analysis and benchmarking
  • Strong communication skills, comfortable presenting findings to all levels of a business
  • Previous experience of defining cost to serve models
